Dhaka, June 26, 2021: Industries, banks, financial institutions and the stock market will remain open from Monday to Wednesday under the current rules.

And the country is going through a severe lockdown from Thursday. However, export-oriented industries will remain open even if a severe lockdown begins. At the same time, banking services related to export activities will also continue. However, Bangladesh Bank will set the transaction deadline on Sunday (June 26).

The decision was taken at a high-level online meeting chaired by Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Saturday (June 26th) night. FBCCI President at the meeting. Jasim Uddin, Faruk Hasan, President, BGMEA, Association of Readymade Garments, Mohammad Hatem, Vice-President, BKMEA, Knit Garment Industry, participated.

Earlier, the owners had expressed their support for keeping the garment factory open despite the severe lockdown. They said that at the moment there are many orders in the factories and loans have also been taken from the banks. If the factory closes, the shipment will stop, the bank will not pay for it. Moreover, it will not be possible to pay 15 days salary next month (July) including salary and bonus for the upcoming Eid.

Multiple members of the BGMEA and BKMEA, two garment owners' organizations, believe that workers will try to move to the village if the ready-made garment factory closes, which has happened before. If this happens, new types of corona will spread between cities and villages. The rate of infection will increase, the fear of death will also increase. If the garment factory is open, the production will continue by bringing workers from the area adjacent to the factory and workers in its own transport. In this way everyone will be safe and production will continue.
