Agriculture | Bangladesh Bangladesh in the top ten list of world in vegetable production
Dhaka, July 3: Bangladesh has achieved self-reliance and significant success in the field of agriculture in the last one decade and has been ranked in the top 10 countries in the world in the production of various crops and vegetables.
নেদারল্যান্ডসের হ্যাগে অনুষ্ঠিত ৬ মাস ব্যাপি ‘ফ্লোরিয়াডে এক্সপো ২০২২’ তে যোগদান করতে গিয়ে শুক্রবার বাংলাদেশ ভবনে গবেষণা বিষয়ক ওয়াগেনিংগেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রেসিডেন্ট ড.সুকে হিমোভারার সাথে বাংলাদেশের কৃষি রুপান্তর বিষয়ে আলোচনাকালে এ কথা বলেন কৃষি মন্ত্রী ড. মো. আব্দুর রাজ্জাক।
শনিবার ঢাকায় প্রাপ্ত এক সংবাদ বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে বলা হয়, ওয়াগেনিংগেন বর্তমানে বিশ্বের শীর্ষ কৃষি গবেষণা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় হিসেবে স্বীকৃত। বিশ্বের বিভিন্ন দেশ কৃষি পণ্যের জাত উন্নয়ন ও উন্নততর কৃষি-প্রযুক্তি উদ্ভাবনের জন্য ওয়াগেনিংগেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সাথে নিয়মিতভাবে প্রায়োগিক গবেষণা কার্যক্রম পরিচালনা করে।
During the meeting, the Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Netherlands, Md. Riaz Hamidullah, raised the issue of launching a joint research project of Wageningen University with the Agricultural Research University of Bangladesh and welcomed the proposal of the President of Wageningen University.
The Minister of Agriculture discussed with the President of the University the importance of expanding the agricultural sector in the Bangladesh Delta Plan and invited him to visit Bangladesh.
The Minister of Agriculture congratulated Dr. Suke on behalf of Bangladesh for taking over as the new President of Wageningen University.
Dr. Razzak, Minister of Agriculture, Bangladesh, discusses practical research on increasing production of various crops and products through application of advanced technology and research results in agriculture, crop diversification, conservation of agricultural products and marketing in modern ways and adaptation to climate change.
