Dhaka, October 22: India has been requested to give at least one month's notice before stopping onion exports. Besides, Bangladesh wants to become self-sufficient in onion production within three years and reduce its dependence on India.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi told reporters after an exchange of views with Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka Vikram Kumar Doraiswamy at the Commerce Ministry on Thursday (October 22).

"India has been requested to give at least one month's notice before stopping onion exports," he said.

"At the same time, Bangladesh wants to become self-sufficient in onion production within three years by reducing its dependence on India."
