Chicken Price Chicken, potatoes become costlier due to heavy rains
Dhaka, June 18: The price of broiler chicken has gone up in the capital's markets after being sold at a slightly lower price for nearly a month. The price of broiler chicken has gone up by Tk 20 per kg in a week. However, the prices of Pakistani cock or golden chicken and red layer chicken remained unchanged.
The price of broiler chicken as well as potato has gone up within weeks. The price of potato has increased by Tk 5 per kg. With this, all kinds of vegetables are being sold at high prices.
Regarding the increase in the price of chicken, traders say that the price of broiler chicken increases at this time of the year. Moreover, broiler chickens have been selling less for more than a month. That is why many farms have reduced the production of broiler chickens. Again the price of chicken feed increased. All in all, the price of broiler chicken has gone up.
On the other hand, regarding the increase in the price of potatoes, the traders said that all the potatoes available in the market are coming from cold storage. And the control of cold storage is under the control of a few traders. The price of potatoes has gone up due to the increase in prices. Prices are less likely to fall before new potatoes arrive. Rather the price may rise further up front.
On Friday, traders in different markets of the capital were seen selling broiler chickens at Tk 150 to Tk 160 per kg, which was selling for Tk 130 to Tk 140 last week. However, red layer chicken is being sold at Tk 230 to Tk 240 per kg as before, while golden chicken is being sold for Tk 200 to Tk 230 per kg.
Meanwhile, the price of potato, which has been selling at Tk 18 to Tk 20 per kg for a long time, has gone up to Tk 25 per kg. Although the price of potato has gone up, the price of onion has remained unchanged during the week. Like last week, onion is being sold at Tk 45 to Tk 50 per kg.
