ECNEC ECNEC approves 10 projects at a cost of Tk 6,651 crore
Dhaka, June 8: At the meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC), 10 projects have been approved at a cost of around Tk 6,651.34 crore. Of this, the government will provide Tk 5,219.81 crore, the agency's own financing will be Tk 798.03 crore and foreign debt will be Tk 637.50 crore.
The projects were approved on Tuesday (June 8) under the chairmanship of Prime Minister and ECNEC Chairperson Sheikh Hasina. After the meeting, Planning Minister MA Mannan spoke to reporters.
Of the projects approved today, 9 are new and one is revised.
Among the new projects, the Road Transport and Highways Department's project 'Construction of Nalua-Baherchar Bridge over Pandav-Payra River at 27th km of Barisal (Dinarerpool) Laxmipasha-Dumki Road (Z-8044) will cost Tk 1,023.5 crore. The project will be implemented from July 2021 to June 2026.
The Department of Road Transport and Highways 'Upgradation of Madhupur-Mymensingh National Highway (N-401) to appropriate standard and width' project will be implemented at a cost of Tk 1,107.17 crore. The project will be implemented from July 2021 to June 2024.
The Ministry of Shipping's project 'Construction of river ports in Chilmari area (Ramna, Jorgach, Nayarhat)' will be implemented at a cost of Tk 235.59 crore. The project will be implemented from July 2021 to December 2023.
The ‘Modernization and Expansion of Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons’ project of the Department of Health Education and Family Welfare has been approved at a cost of Tk 215.43 crore. The project will be implemented from July 2021 to December 2024.
The Water Resources Ministry's project 'Preservation of right bank of Jamuna river and strengthening of Betil Spar-1 and Enayetpur Spar-2 in Brahmangram-Hatpanchil and adjoining areas under Shahjadpur upazila of Sirajganj district' will be implemented at a cost of Tk 647.49 crore. The project will be implemented from July 2021 to October 2024.
The ECNEC approved Ministry of Water Resources project for the rehabilitation of Tangan Barrage, Buribandh and Bhullibandh irrigation projects in Thakurgaon district, conservation of river banks and construction of integrated water control infrastructure for a cost of Tk 296.36 crore. The project will be implemented from July 2021 to December 2024.
