U-Loop Underpass ECNEC approves 10 projects including U-Loop-Underpass for Tk 2,575.42 crore
Dhaka, July 28: The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved 10 projects including construction of U-loop-underpass on Dhaka-Chittagong highway. The total cost for the implementation of the projects has been estimated at Tk 2,575.42 crore. Of this, Tk 2,150.42 crore will be available from government funds and Tk 425 crore will be taken as loans.
Prime Minister and ECNEC Chairperson Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting via video conference from Ganobhaban on Wednesday (July 26). On the other hand, the concerned ministers and secretaries were connected through video conference in the conference room of the Cabinet Committee Council (NEC) of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. After the meeting, Planning Minister MA Mannan and State Minister for Planning Dr Shamsul Alam held a joint press conference.
The planning minister said ECNEC has approved a project to build three underpasses and a U-loop on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway. The construction of this underpass and U-loop will increase the speed of vehicles on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway as well as reduce traffic congestion and accidents.
He said that under this project, U-loop and an underpass at Paduar Bazar intersection of Dhaka-Chittagong National Highway (N-1) and Comilla-Chandpur Regional Highway, Comilla Sadar Dakshin Upazila Gate and Dhaka-Chittagong National Highway adjacent to Beltali Gate of Comilla University (N-1) two underpasses will be constructed.
It was informed at the press conference that the total cost for the implementation of the project will be Tk 568.93 crore. The project will be implemented from June this year to 2024.
