Export revenue target for current financial year placed at $67 billion

Dhaka, July 20: The Ministry of Commerce has set a target of $67 billion in export earnings in the current (2022-23) financial year. Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi gave this information in a press conference at the Ministry of Commerce on Wednesday (July 20).

The Minister of Commerce said, "In the fiscal year 2021-21, we earned 60 billion dollars in exports. Considering all aspects, this time the target of export income has been increased by 11 percent to 67 billion dollars."

He said, "Last year (2020-21) the export income was 45 billion dollars. We have targeted $51 billion in 2021-22. In contrast, the export income was 60.08 billion dollars. It is beyond our own understanding. A number of things worked for this. The market was low for two years due to Corona. People in general reduced their purchases, became thrifty. Various fears have worked, where the state of the economy will stand. After two years out of Corona, buying tendency has been created among people. They have pretty much made up for two years of not buying. Global markets have moved away from China. We got some of his benefits."

He said, "In the recent world situation and the trend of achieving export growth in the past fiscal year 2021-22, the financial benefits given by the government for the expansion of products and markets, the recent trend of world trade in the context of the Russia-war, the impact of Corona in the country, the development of export potential goods and services sector, export related The export target has been determined taking into account the suggestions of the stakeholders and the various initiatives taken by the government to deal with Corona in the budget of the current financial year."

The commerce minister said, "For the financial year 2022-23, the growth of 11.36 percent from the actual income of 2021-22 is estimated at 58 billion dollars and for the service sector, the growth of 12.5 percent from the actual income of 2021-22 is estimated for the financial year 2022-23. 9 billion USD is estimated. As a whole, considering the growth of 10.10 percent from the actual income of the just ended fiscal year, the total export income is expected to be 67 billion dollars."
