Dhaka, February 4: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has waived 47 crore 61 lakh and 70 thousand US dollars for the first installment of the loan in favor of Bangladesh. This money was wavered from the IMF on Wednesday night Bangladesh time.

The amount was added to the central bank's foreign exchange reserves on Thursday afternoon. As a result, the reserve has increased to 3 thousand 269 million dollars. Earlier, at the beginning of the day on Thursday, the reserve was 3,219 crore US dollars.

Bangladesh Bank spokesperson and executive director Majbaul Haque confirmed this information to Jugantar on Thursday evening. He said, we also asked for quick loan. The IMF quickly discounted it. As a result of getting this loan, you can get fast loan from other organizations as well. As a result, the supply of dollars in the country will increase, the crisis will gradually pass.

According to sources, at midnight on Monday Bangladesh time, the Executive Board of the IMF approved the proposal to give a loan of 470 crore US dollars to Bangladesh in three sectors. The matter was informed to the media by the Ministry of Finance in the early hours of Tuesday night. The finance minister also expressed his gratitude to all concerned including the IMF in the statement.

The matter was officially disclosed through an official press release issue from the IMF on Tuesday afternoon. One day after the loan approval, on Wednesday night Bangladesh time, they deposited 47 crore 61 lakh 70 thousand US dollars for the first installment of the loan as foreign currency of Bangladesh Bank.

On Thursday morning, the officials of the concerned department of the central bank came to know about the matter. Then on the same day in the evening, the central bank added to the reserves by completing the transactions of foreign exchange reserves. As a result, the reserve has increased to 3,269 crore US dollars. Earlier, at the beginning of the day on Thursday, the reserve was 3,219 crore US dollars. Reserves increased slightly due to increased IMF loans.
