Sheikh Hasina PCT management agreement will help boost Saudi investment in Bangladesh: PM
Dhaka, Dec 7: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that the 'concession agreement' between Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) and Saudi Arabian company Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT) for the operation of Patenga Container Terminal (PCT) will be more helpful in increasing Saudi investment in Bangladesh.
She said, "This 'concession agreement' is proof of our two countries' joint dreams and steadfast commitment to economic cooperation and prosperity."
CPA Chairman Rear Admiral Mohammad Sohail and 'RSGT' CEO Jeans and Foley signed the agreement in the presence of Saudi Investment Minister Khalid Al Falih along with him at the Prime Minister's office on Wednesday.

At the signing ceremony, Sheikh Hasina said, "As we witness the signing of this 'Concession Agreement', we look forward to a future where Patenga Container Terminal will become the driving force of economic growth and prosperity of Bangladesh."
She said that RSGT will operate the Patenga Container Terminal for the next 22 years. It will strengthen bilateral relations especially in the field of trade.
She also said that Chittagong Port Authority's Patenga Container Terminal Project is a beacon of hope for the economic development of Bangladesh.
Sheikh Hasina said that this self-sustaining modern terminal will increase the capacity of the port, facilitate uninterrupted trade and create employment and entrepreneurship.
She said, "It will act as a gateway to world trade. It will create new opportunities for our businesses to connect with the world.”
The Prime Minister said, "The terminal will help boost regional economic growth. Because, India, Bhutan and Nepal can also use this terminal."
Sheikh Hasina said Saudi Arabia's investment in Patenga Container Terminal will brighten Bangladesh's image on the global stage. He described Saudi Arabia as a friendly country and an important development partner for Bangladesh.
The Prime Minister said that the people of Bangladesh have deep respect and trust for the people of Saudi Arabia. "We have always had Saudi Arabia close to our hearts," she said.
She said RSGT is a reputed global terminal operator designated by the Saudi government.
She expressed his sincere thanks and congratulations to the Saudi Government for appointing a Terminal Operator to manage the Patenga Container Terminal.
