Own correspondent, Dhaka, 28 February 2024: The government has increased the price of gas used in power generation. The gazette has been issued increasing the price of gas used in power plants by 75 paise per cubic meter. The new prices are effective from this February. Earlier, on January 18 last year, a notification was issued to hike gas prices in all sectors except for residential, CNG-powered vehicles, fertilizer and tea industry consumption, which came into effect from February that year.

The previous price of gas for government, IPP and rental power generation plants was Tk 14 per cubic meter. The current price has been increased by 75 paisa per cubic meter to 14 Taka 75 paisa.

The price of gas used in captive power plants, small power plants and commercial power plants was Tk 30 per cubic meter. In the same case, 75 paisa has been increased to 30 Taka 75 paisa. The price has increased by 90 percent.

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid informed reporters at the secretariat in the morning that the price of electricity and gas is being increased in coordination with Bhaturki. Regarding increasing gas prices, he said, gas prices are not adjusted at the consumer level. Phase of electricity. The price of gas for residential use is not increasing. Gas prices are not increasing in industry either. We are making some adjustments in the gas that is provided in the case of electricity. He said that gas which is fed into electricity will increase by 75 paisa per cubic meter, that is, it is internal.

Stating that Tk 43 thousand crores of subsidy will be received in the field of electricity this year, the state minister said that 6 thousand crores of subsidy will be received in the field of energy. We will coordinate these over the next few years.
