Prime Minister Hasina inaugurates 'Bangladesh Business Summit-2023'
Dhaka, March 11: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday inaugurated the three-day 'Bangladesh Business Summit-2023' at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital to celebrate the golden jubilee of FBCCI and the expansion of business and investment.
The conference was organized by FBCCI in collaboration with Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Commerce and Bangladesh Investment Development Authority.
Ministers of 7 countries including United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, China, Bhutan, United Arab Emirates and CEOs of 12 multinational companies, more than 200 foreign investors and business leaders from 17 countries of the world are participating in the conference.
Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen, Saudi Commerce Minister Dr. Majid Bin Abdullah Al Qusaybi, Bhutan's Minister of Industry, Trade and Employment Karma Darjee, WTO Deputy Director General Ambassador Xiangchen Zhang, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, and Prime Minister's Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman F. Rahman spoke at the ceremony. FBCCI President Md. Jaseem Uddin delivered the welcome address.
The conference was organized on the 50th founding anniversary of FBCCI as part of the Bangladesh Federation of Industries and Commerce Association's initiative to showcase the economic potential of the country to foreigners by creating new business and investment opportunities. The conference will highlight the success that has laid the foundation for the sustainable growth of Bangladesh.
The conference will play an important role in realizing Bangladesh's full economic potential, expanding business and attracting investment. Domestic and foreign participating business representatives register in the conference with a substantial amount of money. Companies like Walmart, Zara have come to to Kolkata. Now it is time for them to come to Bangladesh. Along with Bangladesh's export potential, the local consumer market is also expanding.
100 Special Economic Zones are now visible in the country. We need to highlight these capabilities. The government is giving great importance to business facilitation to advance the economy.
About seven hundred and fifty people have already registered for the conference. Besides, a large number of people will attend the conference without registration. The summit will showcase dynamic business investment opportunities and improving local business environments and provide insights into global investor priorities for improving policy-making.
The summit will also facilitate the exchange of success stories and good practices among investors. A video documentary titled 'What is New Bangladesh Becoming' was screened.
