Dhaka, 6 October: The establishment of compressed natural gas refueling stations and autogas filling stations at petrol pumps used to require approval from the Deputy Commissioner's Office. But from now on, re-approval will not be required. A notification in this regard has been issued by the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources.

According to the circular issued on Sunday, Article 3 of the 'Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Autogas) Refueling Station and Conversion Workshop Establishment, Operation and Maintenance Policy, 2016' issued on July 31, 2016 has been amended as follows: If a petrol pump or petroleum filling station is set up, there is no need for the Deputy Commissioner to object again in setting up an autogas filling station in the same location, i.e. in the same complex. All other provisions of the ‘Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Autogas) Refueling Station and Conversion Workshop Establishment, Operation and Maintenance Policy, 2016’ policy will remain unchanged.

Relevant sources said that before the amendment, separate approval was required to set up an autogas filling station at the same place.
