Revenue from Bangabandhu Satellite exceeds Tk 300 crore

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, May 17: The Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) said Bangabandhu Satellite-1 has been in the revenue stream for the last three years. In the meantime, the total revenue of the company has exceeded Tk 300 crore.

At present the monthly income of the company is about Tk 10 crore. Almost all of it is being procured from the domestic market.

BSCL said this in a press release sent on Monday (May 16).

It is mentioned in the notification that Bangabandhu Satellite-1 has been in the revenue stream for three years. In the meantime, the total revenue of the company has exceeded Tk 300 crore. At present the monthly income of the company is about 10 crore rupees. Gradually this income will increase further.

At present, the state broadcaster Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar broadcast a total of 38 TV channels and the country's only DTH operator 'Akash' broadcasts through Bangabandhu Satellite-1. Two banks in the country are already providing ATM services through this. Negotiations are underway with many more public and private banks.

The statement further said that the Armed Forces Department has recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with BSCL. Under this, Army, Navy and Air Force and DGFI will come under the service of Bangabandhu Satellite-1 in Bangladesh.

As part of the Government of Bangladesh's Digital Bangladesh commitment, BSCL is providing telecommunication services in 112 locations in 31 remote islands. Activities are underway to bring more disadvantaged people in remote areas under the service of Bangabandhu Satellite-1 in the near future.

According to the company, BSCL has recently started its business journey in foreign markets by launching a UK based satellite TV channel using Bangabandhu Satellite-1. It is expected to increase further in the coming days.
