Dhaka, March 3: The revised Annual Development Program (RADP) has been approved by the National Economic Council (NEC). On Tuesday (March 2), Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina approved it. A maximum of Tk 49,212.86 crore has been allocated for the transport sector. Which is about 25 percent of the total allocation. 

After the meeting, Planning Secretary Mohammad Zainul Bari briefed reporters at the NEC conference room in the capital's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.

He said the total allocation of RADP is Tk 2,09,271 crore 90 lakh.

"Of this, the autonomous bodies and corporations have their own financing of Tk 11,628 crore 90 lakh. Excluding this, the revised core ADP of our government is Tk 1,97,643 crore. Of this, Tk 1,34,643 crore is from domestic or GoB and foreign loan is Tk 63,000 crore. The Prime Minister has approved the RADP NEC meeting we have presented."

In the current fiscal year, 2,05,144 crore 79 lakh has been allocated in the main ADP of the current fiscal year 2020-21.

In the proposed revised ADP, Tk 1,97,643 crore is being allocated. In other words, the allocation of the proposed revised ADP is reduced by Tk 7,501 crore 79 lakh or 3.66 percent as compared to the original ADP.

Sources say that in the original ADP and the revised ADP, achieving higher growth, reducing poverty or improving the living standards of the people, tackling the Corona situation, building a digital Bangladesh, making Bangladesh a developed country by 2041 are being given importance.

Among other issues in the formulation of ADP / RADP are macroeconomic stability of Bangladesh, rapid economic growth, creation of more employment opportunities, development of communication system, increase in power and energy supply, human resource development, filling food shortage, ensuring health and education for all, local Special emphasis has been laid on strengthening government, empowerment of women, crime control, establishment of good governance, development of rural infrastructure, sanitation and safe water supply, human resource education system (primary, secondary and vocational), expansion and development of information and communication technology programs.
