Shops, shopping malls to remain open till 9pm
Dhaka, April 26: Shops and shopping malls in the capital will remain open till 9 pm, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said.
The Cabinet Division had said that shops and shopping malls could be kept open from 10 am to 5 pm every day from Sunday (April 25) by relaxing the restrictions on the ongoing lockdown. The decision was also announced by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police. Later, it was changed to say that shops and shopping malls can be kept open till 9 pm.
On Sunday evening, DMP Commissioner Shafiqul Islam confirmed the matter, saying, "Shops and shopping malls have been instructed to remain open till 9 pm at the request of the shop owners' association and considering the fasting brothers and sisters. But in this case, all the buyers and sellers must follow the hygiene rules."
A notification was issued by the Cabinet Division last Friday (April 23) directing to keep shops and shopping malls open. It is said that shops and shopping malls will be open from 10 am to 5 pm on Sunday in compliance with the health rules.
The circular, signed by Deputy Secretary of the Cabinet Md. Rezaul Islam, said that the new directives on conditional overall activities / ban on movement to prevent the spread of coronavirus-borne diseases (COVID-19) would follow the previous directives of the department.
The notification further said that the management committee of the concerned market / organization will take necessary steps regarding the observance of hygiene rules.
