Tony Blair praises Bangladesh's unprecedented economic progress

London, May 8: Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair praised the unprecedented economic progress of Bangladesh under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. At the same time, he expressed his desire to help the further development of Bangladesh.

He made this comment during a courtesy meeting with the Prime Minister of Bangladesh in the bilateral meeting room of Claridge's Hotel on Sunday morning local time in the United Kingdom.

After the meeting, Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen said in a press briefing that the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom highly praised the development of Bangladesh and wanted to help Bangladesh in its further development efforts.

Quoting the speech of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Dr. Momen said, we need to create more employment so that Bangladesh can attract more foreign investment.

He said, Tony Blair has said that he has good relations with Middle East countries especially GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council). He can help Bangladesh increase trade links. Head of Institution for Global Change Tony Blair also said that the current economy of Bangladesh is very attractive and Bangladesh is doing very well in the economic field.

The Foreign Minister said that the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom expressed his satisfaction about the bilateral relations between the United Kingdom and Bangladesh and said that the relations between the United Kingdom and Bangladesh are very good. He congratulated the Prime Minister of Bangladesh as he came to attend the coronation ceremony of King Charles III.

Tony Blair said that relevant authorities of the Institution for Global Change will visit Bangladesh and discuss with BIDA officials the sectors that need assistance in Bangladesh's development efforts.
