Top grade onion selling for Tk 30 per kilogram
Dhaka, January 29: The price of onion has come down in the markets in Dhaka. The best quality onions are now being sold in the market at Tk 30 per kilogram. On Friday (January 29), it was learned that besides onions, prices of almost all types of vegetables, including potatoes and tomatoes, are within the reach of ordinary consumers.
It has been seen in different markets of the capital that the best quality domestic onion is being sold at 30 to 35 rupees per kg at the retail level. Some traders are keeping the price of two kilograms onion at Tk 55. On the other hand, domestic onion is being sold at a wholesale price of Tk 25 per kg.
Regarding the price of onion, the onion traders of Karwan Bazar said that now is the season full of domestic onions. The supply of good quality domestic onion is increasing day by day in the market. Due to this the price is decreasing. Now onions are cheaper. Onions are being sold at Tk 120 to Tk 125 per five kilograms. Even a week ago it was sold for Tk 150.
Meanwhile, the price of new potatoes has come down. One kg of new potatoes is being sold at Tk 18 in the retail market. Some traders are keeping Tk 35 for two kilograms.. A week ago, the price of new potato was Tk 20 per kg.
Ripe tomatoes have also come down in price like potatoes and onions. This vegetable which was sold at Tk 20 to Tk 30 per kg a week ago is now available at Tk 10 to Tk 20.
The prices of other vegetables are also giving relief in the market. Beans are being sold at Tk 15 to Tk 30 rupees per kg. Each cauliflower and cabbage is being sold for Tk 15 to Tk 20.
Besides, radish is being sold at Tk 10 to Tk 15, carrot at Tk 15 to Tk 30 and brinjal at Tk 10 to Tk 25 per kg. Pumpkin is available for Tk 40.
