Share Market Trading in the stock market doubles, capital increases by Tk 22,000 crore
Dhaka, January 8: The country's stock market has risen sharply over the past week. In a single week, the main price index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) has risen above four percent. The market capitalization has increased by Tk 22,000 crore or about five percent. And the average daily turnover has almost doubled to around Tk 2,000 crore.
At the end of last week's trading, DSE's market capitalization stood at Tk 4,70,270 crore. It was Tk 4,48,230 crore in the last working day of the previous week. In other words, the market capitalization of DSE has increased by Tk 22,040 crore.
Through this, the market capitalization of DSE increased by Tk 79,737 crore for six consecutive weeks. The increase in market capitalization means that the share and unit prices of listed companies have risen by the same amount.
Meanwhile, DSEX, the main index of DSE, has risen by 219.60 points or 4.07 percent over the past week. The index rose 183.70 points, or 3.52 percent, in the previous week. The index also rose in the previous four weeks. The DSE's main index rose 750 points for six consecutive weeks.
Along with the main price index, there has been a big rise in the DSE-30 index, which is made up of well-selected companies. The index has risen 84.11 points or 4.28 percent over the past week. The index rose 87.23 points, or 4.65 percent, in the previous week. The index also rose in the previous four weeks. The index rose 358 points in six consecutive weeks.
The DSE Shariah Index, which is made up of companies operating on the basis of Islamic Shariah, has also risen for six consecutive weeks. Last week, the index increased by 23.82 points or 1.92 percent. The index has increased by 147 points in five weeks.
Along with the big rise in all price indices, the share and unit prices of most of the companies that traded on the DSE last week have risen. During the week, 215 companies have registered in the list of price increase on DSE. In contrast, the price of 114 has decreased. And the prices of 36 remain unchanged.
The average turnover on the DSE has been Tk 1,990.23 crore every working day of the week. In the previous week, the average daily turnover was Tk 1,160.69 crore. In other words, the average transaction per working day has increased by Tk 829.54 crore or 71.47 percent.
