World Bank to give $2.5 billion to Bangladesh in 5 projects

Dhaka, May 2: The World Bank will finance two and a half billion dollars for the implementation of five projects in Bangladesh. An agreement has also been signed in this regard.

The agreement was signed at the Preston Auditorium of the World Bank headquarters on Monday (May 1). On this day, a plenary session titled 'Reflection of 50 years of World Bank-Bangladesh Partnership' was held at Preston Auditorium. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina addressed it. The agreement was signed between the two parties during the session.

After addressing the session, the Prime Minister handed over a photograph of Padma Bridge to World Bank President David Malpass. She said that false allegations of corruption were made against the Bangladesh government regarding the construction of Padma Bridge.

In her speech, the Prime Minister said, "I hope that the World Bank will be involved in mega projects in both our physical and social sectors in the coming years. Bangladesh will continue to invest in infrastructure and logistics to achieve the goal of becoming a high-income economy by 2041."

Prime Minister's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen, Planning Minister MA Mannan, Prime Minister's Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman F Rahman and others were present in the event.
