24761 freedom fighters to get Smart ID
Dhaka, July 29: Initially, a total of 24,761 brave freedom fighters from 17 districts are getting smart ID cards and 46,803 are getting digital certificates. This information was informed at the official opening ceremony of the digital certificate and smart ID card distribution program of the heroic freedom fighters in the meeting room of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs on Thursday (July 28). Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque inaugurated the digital certificate and smart ID card distribution program.
The Minister of Liberation War Affairs said that the digital certificate and smart ID card printing work of 17 districts has already been completed. The districts include Kishoreganj, Gopalganj, Gazipur, Madaripur, Narail, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Sunamganj, Bagerhat, Satkhira, Jessore, Jhenaidah, Magura, Dhaka, Shariatpur, Meherpur and Narayanganj.
He also said that the digital certificate and smart ID card printing work of the remaining 47 districts will be completed within one and a half months. Among the 46,803 digital certificate holders of the first phase, 24,761 are alive and 22,042 are dead, the minister said.
Secretary of the Ministry Khawaja Mia said in the event, according to the decision of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, this program of distribution of digital certificates and smart ID cards of brave freedom fighters who participated in the great liberation war was taken.
He said that the digital certificate and smart ID card of brave freedom fighters will be distributed through the office of the respective Upazila Nirbahi Officer, District Commissioner in the case of metropolis.
District wise digital certificate and smart ID card should be distributed after verifying the integrated list published by Ministry of Liberation War Affairs (website) latest.
If there is no name in the integrated list published on the website of the Ministry of Liberation War, the distribution of digital certificates and smart ID cards sent in the name of those brave freedom fighters should be suspended.
The freedom fighters whose names are not included in the consolidated list will be given digital certificates and smart ID cards later, subject to their names being included in the consolidated list.
Chairman of the Standing Committee on Ministry of Liberation War Affairs and former Minister of Shipping, Shajahan Khan, was also present in the event under the chairmanship of Khawaja Mia, Secretary of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs. District Commissioners (DCs) of 17 districts were connected virtually on the occasion.
