Own Correspondent, Dhaka, February 1: Today (Tuesday), February, the month of Bengali language movent, starts. Line of the immortal song — Amar Bhaiyer Rokte Ranagano Ekushe February Amiki Bhulite Paari (How could I forget 21st February which was painted with my brothers' blood) — will resound.

The Bengali nation will pay homage to the language martyrs throughout the month. In the struggle for the establishment of the right to language, February movement was the first resistance of the Bengalis against the colonial domination and exploitation and the first emergence of the national consciousness.

On February 21, 1952, in exchange for the blood of Salam, Jabbar, Shafiq, Barkat and Rafiq, the Bengali nation got the status of mother tongue and socio-economic and political impetus. Along the way, the Bengali independence movement began and an independent sovereign Bangladesh was achieved through armed struggle against the Pakistani forces for nine months in 1971.

Although the month of February is sad, there is a glorious chapter in it. Because the only nation in the world is Bengali, who gave their lives for their language in this month decades ago.

In February, the month of mother language, various programs will be organized in memory of the martyrs. However, due to the Corona pandemic, changes are being made in this year's 21st February programme. The biggest month-long book fair of February is not starting from February 1 this year. The fair has already been postponed for two weeks.
