Ensure that families of freedom fighters, martyrs lead a dignified life: PM to DCs
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, January 19: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called upon the DCs to take care of the families of the freedom fighters as well as to ensure their dignified life and fulfill their legal responsibilities without fear and greed.
She said, "Everyone should take care because I do not want to see any more martyr's family, the letter of the father of the nation in whose hand, is begging to eat - let it not happen. This work must be done first as much as we do. It is not at all honourable for us that the family of a freedom fighter will beg."
The Prime Minister on Tuesday virtually inaugurated the DC Conference as the chief guest with the help of video conference from Ganobhaban.
Sheikh Hasina called upon the district-upazila level development projects to be carried out through master plan and for this the local administration and people's representatives to adopt and implement integrated development plan. She also emphasized on avoiding unnecessary projects.
Addressing the DCs, the Prime Minister said, "I urge you to carry out your lawful duties for the welfare of the people beyond all kinds of fears and temptations. It will benefit the common man. And to get government services, ordinary people should not be harassed or deprived in any way."
The Prime Minister called upon the Deputy Commissioners to work more earnestly in implementing various measures taken by the government for consolidating good governance and preventing corruption.
