Dhaka, April 23: The Appellate Division has commented that real freedom fighters are being harassed in many cases due to age differences. The Appellate Division, headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, made the remarks on Thursday (April 22nd) in a case involving the withholding of allowances of some freedom fighters.

At the beginning of the hearing, the Chief Justice said, "It cannot be said now that the list of freedom fighters is correct, because mistakes may come out again here."

At that time, Justice Md. Nuruzzaman said, "The real freedom fighters are being harassed due to their age. A 9-year-old boy was involved in the war with me. He would bring us food. His mother would cook and send food to our bunker with her son. Can we exclude him?"

Justice Md. Nuruzzaman further said, "Bangabandhu himself gave the title of Bir Uttam to 11-year-old Lalu of Keraniganj because he had killed many Pakistani soldiers alone. The real freedom fighters of 60-70 years of age are being harassed. A committee has been formed with those who did not fight the war to determine the age of the freedom fighters."
