Freedom fighters to get Tk 20,000 every month from July
Dhaka, June 21: From July, the honorarium of every heroic freedom fighter will be increased to Tk 20,000, said Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque. The minister was speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed Dhaka District Muktijoddha Complex building in the capital on Sunday (June 20). At present the monthly allowance of the heroic freedom fighters is Tk 12,000.
Highlighting the various plans of the government for the welfare of the heroic freedom fighters, the minister said the construction of 30,000 Birnibas for the heroic freedom fighters is starting in a few days. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has approved 30,000 Birnibas construction projects. At first it was 14,000 but later the Prime Minister increased it to 30,000.
He said free medical treatment has been provided to the heroic freedom fighters. Funds have already been allocated to various specialized hospitals and district and upazila health centers. Besides, the graves of all the heroic freedom fighters will have the same design all over the country.
The Minister called upon all to be inspired by the spirit of the war of liberation and devote themselves to building the golden Bengal of Bangabandhu's dream.
Dhaka Deputy Commissioner Md. Shahidul Islam presided over the function. Among others, Shahjahan Khan, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs; Benazir Ahmed, Member of Parliament for Dhaka-20 constituency; Commerce Ministry Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh; Secretary of the Ministry of Liberation War Khwaja Mia; Dhaka Police Super Md. Maruf Hossain Sardar and other heroic freedom fighters of Dhaka district were present.
