Great Victory Day Great Victory Day: President, PM pay tribute at National Memorial
Dhaka, Dec 16: President Md. Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to the martyrs of the Great Liberation War by laying flowers at the Savar National Memorial on the Great Victory Day.
The President and the Prime Minister laid wreaths at the memorial on Saturday (December 16) around 6:30 am.
First, President Md. Shahabuddin laid a wreath at the memorial altar. Then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina offered wreaths. Meanwhile, the President and the Prime Minister stood in silence for a while in memory of the martyrs of the Liberation War. A well-armored group of Army, Navy and Air Force saluted while the bugle played a melodious tune.
Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud, GOC of 9th Infantry Division, Divisional Commissioner of Dhaka Division and Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka were present during the wreath laying ceremony at the memorial.
Then the speaker of Jatiya Sangsad Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury and Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan paid their respects.
After that, Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to the martyrs on behalf of Awami League. Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader and other top leaders of the party were present at the time.
