Liberation War Affairs Minister requests India to hand over memorial house of the Mujibnagar government in Kolkata

Dhaka, August 30: Liberation War Affairs Minister AQM Mozammel Haque has requested India to hand over the memorial house of the Mujibnagar government formed during the Great Liberation War to Bangladesh. The minister made the request when Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka Vikram Kumar Doraiswami visited the Liberation War Affairs Ministry office in Dhaka on Sunday (August 29). This information was given in a notification of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.

The Minister for Liberation War Affairs requested to hand over the house No. 8 on Theater Road in Kolkata to Bangladesh, which is associated with the memory of the Mujibnagar government formed during the Great Liberation War. Besides, the ministry also held fruitful discussions on scholarships for the children of heroic freedom fighters, treatment of heroic freedom fighters and construction of Swadhinata Road in Mujibnagar.

It was further said that the Minister recalled with gratitude the support of the Indian government and people in the great war of liberation. Mentioning that the Bangladesh government has honored some members of the Indian Allied Forces who gave their lives in the great war of liberation, the Minister requested the High Commissioner to fix the time of honoring the remaining members.

The Indian High Commissioner said Bangladesh-India relations have been tested. Honoring the members of the Allied Forces will further strengthen Bangladesh-India friendship. On December 6 (Recognition Day of Bangladesh by India) the members of the Allied Forces of India who sacrificed their lives in the war of liberation may be honored.

The Indian High Commissioner lauded the unprecedented development of Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He mentioned that besides Bangladesh, the Indian people also have great respect for Bangabandhu.

The Ambassador also said that India is willing to share the joy of the people of Bangladesh on the occasion of the golden jubilee of the great independence of Bangladesh.

The Minister also presented the book 'Secrets Document of Intelligence Branch on Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman' to the Indian High Commissioner.
