Liberation War organizer, political personality Pankaj Bhattacharya passes away

Dhaka, April 25: Pankaj Bhattacharya, one of the organizers of the Great Liberation War and President of Oikya NAP (National Awami Party), passed away. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the capital's Health and Hope Hospital on Sunday night.

Dr. Lenin Chowdhury of Health and Hope Hospital said that Pankaj Bhattacharya died at 12:25 am on Sunday.

83-year-old Pankaj Bhattacharya was suffering from various problems including breathing problems. He was admitted to the capital's Health and Hope Hospital last Monday. As his condition deteriorated, he was put on life support on Saturday morning.

Pankaj Bhattacharya was born in August 1939. He grew up in Noapara village of Raujan, Chittagong. His father was a school teacher. Pankaj Bhattacharya is one of the politicians who believed in the Left ideology. He spent almost his entire life upholding his ideals.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of Pankaj Bhattacharya, one of the organizers of the great liberation war and president of Oikya NAP.

In a condolence message on Monday, the Prime Minister wished the departed soul to rest in peace and expressed deep condolences to his bereaved family members.
