Ministry sends letter asking for the names of freedom fighters left out of the list
Dhaka, November 30: The government is giving direct allowance to the freedom fighters by including the list in the software. It has been seen that the number of freedom fighters has been reduced to 21,000 in this new online system based on national identity card.
The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has summoned a list of names of heroic freedom fighters who have received allowances before but are not covered by the software now (excluding entry).
The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has sent a letter to all the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) on November 25 asking for the list. This list must be sent by December 15.
The letter said that on the basis of the information entered in the Management Information System (MIS) containing the complete information of the heroic freedom fighters, honorarium allowance for the heroic freedom fighters for the month of October-November has been allotted at the district level.
On the other hand, earlier honorarium was allocated for the July-September quarter. Two separate allocation reviews show that the number of heroic freedom fighters allocated in the July-September period is much higher than the number of heroic freedom fighters who entered the MIS.
In this context, the DCs and UNOs have been directed to send the information of the honorary allowance recipients who were given allowances in the July-September quarter in favor of the heroic freedom fighters but the MIS information was not entered by December 15 in the form of MS Word and PDF.
A table has also been prepared for providing information. The table contains the name, father's name and address of the beneficiary freedom fighter who was not entered in MIS.
The beneficiary has been asked to send the details (including serial number) of the honorarium on the basis of proof as a freedom fighter, reasons for non-entry in MIS and comments.
An official of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs said that after receiving the list from the field level, verification and selection will be done. Action will be taken against those who have taken allowances so far irregularly.
According to the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, allowances were sent to 1,92,000 heroic freedom fighters on the basis of the list of the district administration. But after including the information of the names of the heroic freedom fighters in the software, the number is 1,71,000.
At present, a heroic freedom fighter is getting a monthly allowance of Tk 12,000. Besides, the heroic freedom fighters get Tk 20,000 for two Eids, Victory Day allowance of Tk 5,000 and Bengali New Year allowance of Tk 2,000.
