Own Correspondent, Dhaka, March 5, 2024: A valiant freedom fighter held a press conference after he failed to receive a loan even after bribing the manager of Satkhira House Building Finance Corporation. Md. Shahajan Ali, son of deceased Ishahak Moral of Goyra village in Kalawar, read a written statement at the press conference held at Abdul Motaleb Auditorium of Satkhira Press Club on Sunday.

In his written speech, he said that in 1971, at the call of the father of the nation, he risked his life and participated in the great liberation war. I built a wire cutter factory in my own property at Binerpota in Satkhira city. At that time, BSCIC gave a loan of 6.5 lakh taka. BSCIC forcibly extorted Tk 10 lakh from me as I could not run the factory due to lack of money. That's why I sold my land and paid their debt.

Besides, another 5 satak of land in my name in Gopinathpur has been taken over by the road department without paying any money. Then there was no house even though I had my own land at Amtala intersection in the city. I built a 2 storied house with all my money but could not complete the house due to financial crisis. Due to which I applied for house loan in various banks but could not accept the loan.

Later I applied to Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation Satkhira branch. Ashish Mondal, the manager of the corporation, assured me of the loan. If different documents are requested at different times in two years, I provide them. In addition, the manager Ashish demanded 1 lakh 70 thousand taka from me with the assurance of a loan to complete the 4-storey building. I paid 1 lakh taka to Satkhira branch manager. But after two years he sent a letter and told me that it is not possible to give any loan at the moment and after returning Tk 40 thousand to me, he said that the remaining Tk 60 thousand has been spent.
