Prime Minister pays homage to the portrait of Bangabandhu

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, March 26: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid homage to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the occasion of the great Independence and National Day.

At 6:38 am on Saturday (March 26), she laid a wreath at the portrait in front of the historic Bangabandhu Bhaban at Dhanmondi No. 32. After paying her respects, the Prime Minister went inside the historic Bangabandhu Bhaban (Bangabandhu Memorial Museum). She stayed there for some time.

Later, at around 7:23 am, Sheikh Hasina, as the President of Awami League, paid homage to the portrait of Bangabandhu for the second time with the top leaders of the party. Then the Speaker of the Parliament Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury paid homage to the portrait of Bangabandhu.

When the Bangabandhu Bhaban area was made open to all, people of different classes and professions including leaders and workers of Awami League and its affiliated organizations paid homage to the portrait of Bangabandhu.

Earlier, at 5:55 am, President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid homage to the heroic martyrs with flowers at the altar of the National Memorial. That time they stood in silence for a while.

Then the Speaker of the National Assembly Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, Chief Justice Hasan Fayez Siddiqui paid homage to the heroic martyrs of 1971. After that, tributes were paid one by one by various political and social, cultural parties and organizations including Awami League.
