Own Correspondent, Dhaka, March 10: Liberation War Affairs Minister AQM Mozammel Haque said, "No new list of war criminals is being prepared in the country. However, victims can go to the court."

He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the Independence Day Debate Competition at FDC on Wednesday (March 9). Chairman of Debate for Democracy Hasan Ahmed Chowdhury Kiran presided over the function.

In December 2019, after 48 years of the Liberation War, the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs published a list of 10,789 people. The ministry said the first phase of the list had been released, and more lists would be published later. It was also mentioned that the persons on the list were involved in various anti-independence organizations including Razakar, Al-Badr, Al-Shams during the war of liberation in 1971.

However, the names of many people who were not Razakars were mentioned in the published list. It was alleged that the names of many freedom fighters and organizers of the liberation war were also included in the list. Immediately after the publication of the list, there was a lot of discussion and criticism on social media and protests took place in different parts of the country. At one point the list was suspended, regretting the situation. The minister made the remarks at a debate held on the occasion of Independence Day almost two years after the incident.

He also talked about whether the children of Razakars got government benefits or not. The minister said, "Razakar's children will not get state benefits or government jobs — there is no such law in the country at the moment. If the people want, they will think about it in the future."
