Victory Day program announced; There will be no parade

Dhaka, December 7: In celebration of 'Great Victory Day-2020', various programs have been taken at the national level in compliance with the health rules. However, due to the outbreak of Covid-19, Victory Day parade will not be held this year. On Sunday (December 6), the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs announced the program and issued a notification.

It said that the day will start on 16 December in Dhaka with 31 rounds of artillery fire. As soon as the sun rises, a wreath will be laid at the Savar National Memorial on behalf of President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. After that the Bir Shrestha family, war wounded freedom fighters and heroic freedom fighters will present wreaths under the leadership of the Minister of Liberation War Affairs.

The national flag will be hoisted at sunrise in all government, semi-government, autonomous and private buildings and important buildings and installations will be illuminated. The main roads and road islands of Dhaka and different cities of the country will be decorated with national flags and other flags.

The President and the Prime Minister will deliver speeches on the occasion of Victory Day. Newspapers will publish special supplements highlighting the significance of the day. On this occasion, electronic media will broadcast various programs based on the liberation war throughout the month.

On the occasion of Victory Day, there will be an online discussion meeting titled 'Building the Golden Bengal of the Father of the Nation's Dream', holding the spirit of the Liberation War and achieving national prosperity through the best use of digital technology '.

On this day, an exhibition of posters based on the history and heritage of the Liberation War will be organized at the Freedom Pillar and Underground Museum at Suhrawardy Udyan. A small number of visitors will be given the opportunity to enter there in compliance with the health rules.

On the occasion of Victory Day, the Postal Department will issue commemorative stamps. Special prayers and worship will be organized in the religious institutions in accordance with the rules of health, wishing the souls of the martyred freedom fighters and the well-being of the war-wounded freedom fighters and peace, prosperity and progress of the country. Besides, high quality food will be served in such institutions including orphanages, old age homes, hospitals, jails and child development centers.

At the district and upazila level and also at the Bangladesh embassies abroad, various programs will be taken up highlighting the significance of the day.
