We are losing all the brave freedom fighters one by one: Prime Minister
Dhaka, May 31: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina condoled the death of actor Akbar Hossain Pathan in Parliament. The Chief Minister said that Farooq played a role in the anti-Ayub movement as an activist of Chhatra League. He has contributed to every movement and struggle with devotion and courage. Sadly we are losing all freedom fighters one by one.
The Prime Minister said this in his speech on the condolence motion in the National Parliament on Wednesday (May 31). The parliament unanimously accepted the condolence motion brought to the parliament on the death of this member of parliament of the government party. Earlier, the condolence motion raised in Parliament was discussed. Prime Minister, Parliament Leader Sheikh Hasina participated in the discussion. Later, the meeting of Parliament was adjourned as per custom.
Participating in the discussion on the condolence proposal, the Prime Minister said, "I never thought that he would pass away like this. May Allah give strength to the family to bear this grief. Expressing deep grief and condolences to the family, he said that his contribution was not only in politics but in our cultural world. His death is in the cultural arena. There has been a huge loss. We have had cultural workers by our side in every movement and struggle. After the assassination of Bangabandhu, when no one dared to mention his name, cultural workers came forward. Farooq played a role in bringing forward the spirit of independence."
The Prime Minister's grandmother, Saira Khatun, died on May 31, 1974, and paid tribute to her on this day. She asked everyone to pray for him and said, "My grandmother gave birth to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He brought us freedom. That is why we are established as an independent nation today."
"We have lost so many MPs in the current parliament, which has never happened in the past," she said.
Later prayers were offered for the peace of the departed souls including Akbar Hossain Pathan. Maulana Ruhul Amin Madani led the prayer.
