Dhaka, October 28: A writ has been filed in the High Court to link the issues of the great liberation war and freedom fighters in the constitution.

The writ petition seeks to know why the issue of liberation war and freedom fighters should not be included in any relevant place of the constitution. Lawyers Abeda Gulrukh and Nasreen Sultana filed the writ petition on behalf of the six heroic freedom fighters at the concerned branch of the High Court on Thursday (October 28).

Supreme Court Advocate Hasnat Qayyum will attend the hearing in favour of the the writ petition. The Secretary of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and the Secretary of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs have been made defendants.

Advocate Hasnat Qayyum said, “The constitution does not mention the great liberation war and freedom fighters properly. For this reason, we have filed a writ petition seeking directions to add the issues of liberation war and freedom fighters separately in any suitable place of the constitution."
