5 South Asian countries congratulate PM for Padma Bridge

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, June 27: Five South Asian countries have congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the people of Bangladesh on the successful completion of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge.

According to the Prime Minister's Press Wing, five South Asian countries, Pakistan, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bhutan, warmly congratulated Bangladesh after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the much-anticipated Padma Bridge on June 25, overcoming all obstacles.

In a message to Sheikh Hasina, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the Prime Minister and the people of Bangladesh on the completion of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge project on behalf of Pakistan.

Referring to the inauguration of the bridge as an important milestone in the development journey of fraternal Bangladesh, he said, "It is also a testament to our determination to take Bangladesh to the stage of inclusive and sustainable growth."

In another letter, Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on behalf of himself and the people of Maldives extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the Prime Minister and the people of Bangladesh for inaugurating the Padma Multipurpose Bridge.

He mentioned that the Padma Bridge will undoubtedly bring many economic and social benefits to the people of Bangladesh by expanding the connection between Dhaka and the southern part of Bangladesh and beyond.

The President of Sri Lanka, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, also extended his best wishes and warm congratulations for the successful inauguration of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge by completing a groundbreaking infrastructure project for Bangladesh and its people on June 25.

He opined that this achievement will positively increase connectivity and inclusion by increasing the economic and industrial progress of Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of Nepal, Sher Bahadur Deuba, congratulated Sheikh Hasina, the government and the people of Bangladesh on the completion of the Padma Bridge project.

He wrote that the inauguration of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge, which connects the south-western districts of Bangladesh with the capital and other areas of Bangladesh through roads and railways, will open new opportunities for socio-economic development of Bangladesh and increase connectivity in the region.

Bhutan Prime Minister Dr. Lotay Tshering congratulated the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the people of Bangladesh on the successful completion of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge, a landmark milestone in the construction history of Bangladesh.

He wrote, ‘We are inspired by your commitment to take such an initiative. As expected, this iconic structure will go a long way in accelerating economic activity in your country and beyond."
