Afghanistan people hold vigils for killed Japanese doctor
Dr. Tetsu Nakamura and five others were killed in the attack.
Vigils were held in Kabul, Nangarhar and in Parwan, reported Tolo News.
No group has claimed responsibility for the incident so far.
The Japanese national, who was running a charity organization in the eastern Jalalabad city for many many years, had received Afghanistan’s honorary citizenship.
Reacting to the death of the Japanese, The US Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs (SCA) earlier tweeted: " Heartbroken to hear of the targeted attack against Dr. Tetsu Nakamura, who headed the NGO Peace Medical Service in Nangarhar, Afghanistan. Dr. Nakamura’s example of service was an inspiration to all who knew him, and his murder is a loss for all of us. AGW."
The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said: "UN in #Afghanistan condemns and expresses its revulsion at the killing today of respected Japanese aid worker Dr. Tetsu Nakamura in #Jalalabad. A senseless act of violence against a man who dedicated much of his life to helping most vulnerable Afghans #NotATarget."
