Bhutan to increase trade with Bangladesh using India's transit

Dhaka, February 14: Bhutan wants to increase the ongoing import-export activities through three land ports including Nakugaon in Sherpur. Bhutanese ambassador Rinchen Kuentsyl said that the work will start after receiving permission to use transit from India.

He said this while visiting Nakugaon land port on Monday afternoon. The Ambassador of Bhutan said, "Bhutan's commercial relationship with Bangladesh is very good. Bhutan wants to start import-export activities through three land ports of Bangladesh to speed up this cordial relationship."

He also said that Bangladesh is Bhutan's second commercial point. Currently, there are Indo-Bangladesh and Indo-Bhutan agreements, but it is going to be a trilateral agreement soon.

During the land port visit, Bhutan's Minister Counselor (Commerce) Kencho Thinley, Bangladesh Customs Commissioner Wahida Chowdhury, Additional Superintendent of Police Sohail Mahmud, Nalitabari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Himel Risil, Nalitabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Emdadul Haque were present.
