Election Bangladesh's internal matter: India
New Delhi, Jan 5: India has stated its position on Bangladesh elections as before. New Delhi says the election is Bangladesh's internal matter.
This was said by the new spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs of India, Randhir Jaisawal, at the weekly briefing on Thursday.
Journalists asked him - Bangladesh elections are going to be held on January 7. Questions are being raised about the acceptability of the election. Because the main opposition party is not participating in the election. What is India's position on this matter? In response, Jaisawal said, "We have been constantly saying about the election of Bangladesh, the election of Bangladesh is their internal matter. The people of Bangladesh will decide their destiny."
The spokesperson was also asked whether India will send election observation. However, Jaisawal did not comment on this.
According to information received from diplomatic sources, India's Senior Deputy Election Commissioner, led by Dharmendra Sharma, arrived in Dhaka on Thursday at the invitation of the Election Commission of Bangladesh. The delegation will stay in Bangladesh until the election results are announced on January 9.
