Bangladesh Mega Projects Entire South Asia will benefit from Bangladesh's mega projects
Own Correspondent, New Delhi, Nov 12: Not only Bangladesh, but the entire South Asia will also benefit from the mega projects of the country. State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury MP said this at the opening ceremony of the Multimodal Water Summit-2022 held at the Trade Facilitation Center in Benares in India's Uttar Pradesh.
Referring to the existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and India, he said, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, these friendly relations will remain intact and become stronger.
The State Minister said that Bangladesh has emerged from Least Developed Country (LDC) status, achieving the status of a lower middle-income country in 2015. Bangladesh has a strong economy despite adverse conditions. He said that in the last decade we have undertaken Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, Padma Bridge, Rail Link, Payra Sea Port, Matarbari Deep Sea Port, Karnaphuli Tunnel, Bangabandhu Railway Bridge Project, Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Terminal-3 and many other mega projects.
Minister of Textiles, Commerce, Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution Piyush Goyal, Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and AYUSH Sarbanand Sonowal, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, Secretary Ports, Shipping and Waterways of India Dr. Sanjeev spoke on the occasion among others. Ranjan, Chairman of the Inland Waterways Authority of India, Sanjay Banerjee. Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) Chairman Commodore Golam Sadek attended the conference as an invited guest.
The conference is being held on November 11-12 in Banaras, Uttar Pradesh, India under the initiative of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and the Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy. The State Minister participated in the conference at the invitation of Sarbanand Sonowal, Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways and AYUSH of India.
Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said, "We want to be connected with our neighboring countries, especially with India in all possible fields. Our connectivity will be strengthened by road, sea, and air."
He said, "We have accepted Bangladesh Regional Connectivity Project-1. Through this, we can have seamless communication in the sub-region. For that purpose, we have started transshipment, transit, and inter-country trade of all types of goods and cargo."
