IED explosion kills 6 children, injures 2 women in Afghanistan's Sar-e-Pul

Dhaka, September 3: A mine explosion took the lives of at least six children and injured two women in Afghanistan's Sar-e-Pul province.

The incident was confirmed by the 209th Shaheen Corps said in a statement Thursday.

 

It took place on Wednesday at around 5:45 pm near the Mohammad Isa residence in Sancharak district.

 

According to the statement, the improvised explosive device (IED) was planted by Taliban insurgents.

 

The deceased have been identified as children aged between five and 10 years.

 

The injured women are said to be aging between 30 and 50 years.

 

Insurgent Taliban group is yet to comment.
