New Delhi, Feb 28: Indian President Droupadi Murmu said India gives top priority to its friendship with Bangladesh and the country is committed to exploiting its full potential.

She said India and Bangladesh have a very close bond, founded on the history, culture and sacrifices of the two countries. India is proud to be a friend and partner in the liberation war of Bangladesh and is moving forward as a partner in the development journey with its neighbour.

President Droupadi Murmu said these when a 100-member youth delegation from Bangladesh went to meet her at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Tuesday.

"We must protect and nurture this spirit, which inspires the unique bond between our two countries," Murmu said.

The President of India said that the relationship between India and Bangladesh is a relationship of heart and soul, as the two countries share deep cultural ties and have common ties in art, music, cricket and food.

The President noted that India and Bangladesh are home to a large and energetic youth population, who have unlimited potential to reshape the world.

She urged everyone to utilize this potential and said that it is the responsibility of the youth to build a green, sustainable and peaceful world as the leaders of the future.

Murmu said, "The members of this delegation have been selected from all over Bangladesh. It is inclusive, with more than 50 percent women and participants from all walks of life."

About the youth delegation's visit, the President said, "Their presence here is not just a visit, it will build a bridge between the two countries. This is a testament to the enduring spirit of cooperation and friendship that characterizes India-Bangladesh relations."
