Indian PM Narendra Modi condoles Bailey Road fire mishap, writes to Sheikh Hasina

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 3 March 2024: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of life in the Green Cozy Cottage building on Bailey Road in the capital. The High Commission of India in Dhaka gave this information on Saturday. The Prime Minister of India sent a condolence letter to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday.

In the letter, Narendra Modi has expressed his sincere condolences over the loss of life in the fire at the Green Cozy Cottage building in Dhaka on February 29. At the same time, he wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. Narendra Modi said that India stands by Bangladesh in this difficult time. At the same time, friendly thoughts and prayers will be with the people of Bangladesh.

Bailey Road fire: One more body handed over

Meanwhile, the body of another person who died in the fire in the building named Green Cozy Cottage on Bailey Road in the capital has been handed over to his relatives. His watch has also been handed over to relatives. Ramna Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Habibur Rahman handed over the body of the deceased KM Minhaj Uddin (26) to the relatives from Dhaka Medical College (DMH) Hospital morgue on Saturday around 6 pm.

Mehedi Hasan, the brother of the deceased, said that Minhaj Uddin was a software engineer. Worked in a private company. His brother had a watch, an operation scar on his stomach and raised front teeth. Seeing these, they identified the body. He also said that their village home is in Islampur Gachtala area of Chandpur Sadar district. Their father's name is Wali Ullah. His brother will be buried in the family cemetery at the village home.

Earlier, a fire broke out in the building named Green Cozy Cottage on Bailey Road last Thursday night. 46 people died in this incident. Eleven people were injured and are undergoing treatment in the hospital, their condition is critical. Among the dead are 20 men, 18 women and 8 children. The bodies of 45 of the victims have been handed over to their families.
