MQM leader shot dead in Pakistan
Karachi, Apr 11: A Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader, who was supposed to contest the upcoming Pakistan polls, was shot dead by unknown gunmen in southern Sindh province on Thursday, police said.
Fakhrul Islam was gunned down outside his house near Hala Naka in Hyderabad city.
He was a candidate from PS-47.
"Two gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire at Islam. He received several bullet injuries and died on the spot. The gunmen fled from the spot," said a police official.
No terrorist organization has claimed responsibility of the attack so far.
Meanwhile, issuing a statement from London, MQM chief Altaf Hussain condemned the incident and demanded protection for the party\'s candidates.
