Islamabad, Mar 14 : A Pakistani special court, which is hearing the treason case against former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, on Friday issued a non-bailable warrant against him, media reports said.

"The special court has ordered for Pervez Musharraf’s warrant to be implemented on March 31. According to the order if Musharraf fails to appear before the special court by March 31 he should be arrested and presented," Geo News reported.

The former Pakistani President did not appear before the court on Friday.

Earlier in the day, Musharraf’s counsel Anwar Mansoor submitted an application in the court where he had sought his exemption from Friday\'s hearing, reports said.

Musharraf returned to Pakistan in March last year after years of self-exile in the UK.

Musharraf rose to power in Pakistan in a coup in 1999. He had stepped down from the power in 2008 and was threatened with impeachment, which resulted in his self-exile.
