Pakistan: Mob in Sialkot burns to death Sri Lankan factory manager on blasphemy charge

A mob in Pakistan's Sialkot area on Friday tortured a Sri Lankan man to death and then burned his body on charges of blasphemy, media reports said.

Security officials have rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control.

The incident took place on Wazirabad Road in Sialkot, where reportedly the workers of private factories attacked the export manager of a factory and burnt his body after killing him, reports Dawn News.

Sialkot District Police Officer Umar Saeed Malik told the newspaper that the man, identified as Priyantha Kumara, was a Sri Lankan national.

The motive behind the incident is still not known.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar took notice of the murder, terming it as a "very tragic incident", while the spokesperson for Sialkot police said details would be shared with the media after initial investigation, reports Dawn News.
