Islamabad, July 26: The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) on Friday announced it will boycott the upcoming presidential election in the country.

"Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Friday announced to boycott next week\'s presidential election to protest against the vote being brought forward without consultation," Pakistan based Geo News reported.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, PPP\'s presidential candidate and senior leader Raza Rabbani said: "We have been left with no alternative, but to boycott the election."

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on July 16 announced the country will hold its Presidential election on Aug 6.

The Supreme Court this week changed the date to July 30 after Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chairman Raja Zafarul Haq filed a petition and urged to change the date of the poll.
