Islamabad, Feb 18 : Former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday finally appeared before a special court in Islamabad, which is hearing his treason case.

"Musharraf in his stance before the court maintained that the jurisdiction of the special court should be decided prior to his indictment. The special court adjourned the hearing till Friday and will announce its verdict regarding if the former president should be tried in a military court," Pakistan\'s Geo TV reported.

The court had earlier summoned Musharraf to appear before it on Feb 18.

The court said a non-bailable warrant for the former President would be issued in case he failed to appear before the court.

Musharraf had skipped the hearing of the case numerous times before.

The court, however, accepted the petition seeking his exemption from appearing before it during the proceedings earlier.

Musharraf’s counsel Anwar Mansoor had said he will appear before the court on Feb 18.

"Pervez Musharraf will appear before the court after being discharged from the hospital," Anwar was earlier quoted as saying to the court by Geo News.

Musharraf was hospitalised after he suffered a \'heart problem\' in January.

He returned to Pakistan in March last year after years of self-exile in the UK.

Musharraf rose to power in Pakistan in a coup in 1999. He had stepped down from the power in 2008 and was threatened with impeachment, which resulted in his self-exile.
