Tripura Chief Minister sends pineapples for PM Hasina

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, July 14: The Chief Minister of the Indian state of Tripura Dr. Manik Saha has sent pineapple as a gift to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. In 100 cartons, 600 pieces (750 kgs) of India's most popular Kew variety of pineapples have been sent to the Prime Minister.

Dr. Deepak Baidya, Assistant Director of Tripura Horticulture, on behalf of Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, handed over the pineapples to Manish Singh, Visa Officer of the Assistant High Commission of India in Chittagong, Bangladesh, on Thursday (July 14) morning at the zero line of Akhaura land port in Brahmanbaria.

Manish Singh, Visa Officer, Indian High Commission, said, "The Chief Minister of Tripura has sent pineapples as a gift to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. The pineapples will go directly from here to the Padma Bhavan diplomatic office. From there it will be sent to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh."

Senior officials of both countries including 120 BSF in-charge SI Suresh Singh of India, Akhaura Immigration In-charge Abu Bakr Siddique, Akhaura ICP in-charge Subedar Kamal Hossain were present at the border zero line during the pineapple handover.
