Various preparations underway in Satkhira for Narendra Modi's visit

Dhaka, March 13: Various preparations have been made in Satkhira for the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Shyamnagar in Satkhira on Saturday 27 March. He will visit Jessoreswari Kali Mandir in Ishwaripur village of Shyamnagar upazila and take part in worship. Various preparations have been made on this occasion. 

Meanwhile, on Friday (March 12) at noon, a visit to Jessoreswari Kali Mandir in Ishwaripur village and a 'progress review meeting' was held at the Jessoreswari temple premises. During this time, the Divisional Commissioner along with the officers of the concerned department inspected the temple premises, helipad under construction and the surrounding area and gave various directions.

Satkhira Deputy Commissioner SM Mostafa Kamal confirmed the information on Friday (March 12) night.

He said construction of new roads in the vicinity of the temple, construction of three helipads, beautification work around the temple area, lighting and other works are underway. Senior officials of LGED are constantly visiting the spot and supervising it.

Meanwhile, on the news of the arrival of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a festive atmosphere is prevailing among the Hindu community in Shyamnagar, Satkhira.

Krishnananda Mukherjee, headmaster of Nakipur Model Girls' School, president of the district Matua community, said, "There is a tide of joy in the Matua community on the occasion of Narendra Modi's arrival."

Dilip Mukherjee, a priest of Jessoreswari Kali Mandir, said that Shyama Kali Puja is held in this temple every year. At this time a fair was held in the area adjacent to the temple. On the occasion of the fair, people of all communities became one in the joyous festival. Besides, worship is performed in this temple every Saturday and Tuesday. Numerous devotees gather for these pujas.

Satkhira traditional religion representative and district health secretary of the Awami League. Subrata Ghosh said, ‘Modiji will visit Bangladesh as well as take part in state programs and visit some places of pilgrimage. The list also includes the Jessoreswari Kali Mandir at Ishwaripur in Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira. It is learned that the Prime Minister of India is coming to Kali Mandir on March 26.

He further said, ‘Ishwaripur Jessoreswari Kali Mandir is one of the most sacred places for the followers of traditional religions. This is one of the traditions of Ekanna Peethasthan.'
