Islamabad: The Pakistan government gave a jolt to all-weather ally China as the country issued a final warning to Chinese video sharing platform TikTok.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Tuesday banned the Singaporean live-streaming app Bigo over immoral, obscene and vulgar content and issued a final warning to Chinese video sharing platform TikTok for similar reasons, reports Pakistan Today.

The PTA in a statement said as quoted by the newspaper, “In exercise of its powers under PECA, PTA has decided to immediately block Bigo and issue final warning to TikTok to put in place a comprehensive mechanism to control obscenity, vulgarity and immorality through its social media application.”

Incidentally, Pakistan's neighbour India last month banned 59 apps with Chinese links including the very popular TikTok and UC Browser in the wake of the deadly faceoff with China in Ladakh on June 15 which left 20 Indian soldiers martyred.

In a statement, the Indian government had said the apps were blocked "in view the information available (that) they are engaged in activities which is prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order."
